Trimming can help ornamental grasses
Cut back ornamental grasses and liriope in advance of fresh growth in late winter.
Grasses can be gathered with string and sawed with a pruning saw. But grasses like liriope, or lily turf, should be cut with hand pruners.
Grasses should be cut to 3 to 4 inches above the soil line.
New growth will emerge from the plant crown as the temperatures get warmer.
