City commissioners on Tuesday approved the purchase of 3.92 acres for a future neighborhood park in northwest Lawrence at a cost of $125,875. A 2001 property appraisal listed it at $137,200.

The property, in a new housing development north of Free State High School, was purchased from the developer, North Stephens LC.

“It will be a nice future asset for that neighborhood,” Commissioner David Dunfield said.
