Ohio State aide replaces Borbely on KU staff

Goodbye, Dave Borbely. Hello, Ken Conatser.

New Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino lost offensive line coach Borbely to Colorado, but quickly replaced him by hiring Conatser away from Ohio State.

A native of Cincinnati, Conatser has 25 seasons of coaching experience on the collegiate level.

He also spent 14 years in the high school ranks.

Conatser was Ohio State’s defensive ends coach and special teams coordinator last season after working 15 seasons at Youngstown State.

During his stay at Youngstown, the Penguins reached the NCAA Div. I-AA playoffs 10 times and won four national titles.

A former guard/linebacker at Cincinnati U., Conatser also has coached at UMass, Syracuse and San Diego State.

Borbely joined Mangino’s staff late last December after spending the last four seasons as an aide at Notre Dame. At Colorado, he replaces Steve Marshall, who left Gary Barnett’s staff to join the Houston Texans, the NFL expansion team.
