Steven D. Treaster

Prairie Village Services for Steven D. Treaster, 50, Shawnee, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village. Burial will be in Old Monticello Cemetery, Shawnee. A reception will follow the burial at the home of A.L. and Susan Summerlin, Shawnee.

Mr. Treaster died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at his home. He had cancer.

He was born June 10, 1951, in Beloit, the son of Darrell and Carol (Mercer) Treaster. He was a graduate of Buhler High School and Kansas University School of Law.

Mr. Treaster established a private law practice in Johnson County in 1983. He specialized in workers compensation.

He was a member of Kansas Bar Assn., Kansas Trial Lawyers Assn., and Civil War Round Table, of which he was a past president and recipient of the first Steve Treaster Preservation Award. He was chairman of Mennett Fund, board member for Johnson County Historical Museum and elder at Southminster Presbyterian Church.

He married Toni Wood on Oct. 24, 1981. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Alex, Grant and Nicholas, all of the home; his father and stepmother, Darrell and Shirley Treaster, Hutchinson; a sister, Cyndi Treaster, Lecompton; and two brothers, Mark, Pretty Prairie, and Tom, Pomona.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Amos Funeral Home, Shawnee.
