Starkey services

Memorial services for Margarett A. Starkey, 75, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Starkey died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Eudora Nursing Center.

She was born March 24, 1926, in the Globe Community in southwest Douglas County, the daughter of Harold and Lora Albright Fisher. She was a graduate of Liberty Memorial High School.

Mrs. Starkey was a homemaker and had worked at Weaver’s Department Store in the advertising department. During World War II, she had worked at Sunflower Ordinance Plant near DeSoto.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Lawrence.

She married Jack E. Starkey on June 30, 1946, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Melinda Maturo, Valparaiso, Ind.; a brother, Alan Fisher, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary.
