Nebraska next for KU women

Kansas University’s struggling women’s basketball team will attempt to break its 12-game losing streak tonight against a team it hasn’t had much luck against lately.

The Jayhawks (5-20 overall, 0-12 Big 12 Conference) will play host to Nebraska (13-11, 3-8).

Tipoff is 7:05 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on the Jayhawk Radio Network (KWLN 1320).

The Huskers have won six straight and nine of the past 10 against the Jayhawks.

And the rest of the regular season doesn’t get any easier for KU, despite the fact three of its remaining four games will be played at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks, nearing the end of their worst season in school history, will finish the regular season with games against three ranked teams  No. 12 Kansas State on Sunday, No. 10 Iowa State on Feb. 23 and No. 18 Texas on Feb. 26.

ISU is the only road game in that stretch for KU.

The Huskers are coming off a 67-52 victory over K-State on Sunday. Keasha Cannon, NU’s leading scorer an rebounder at 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, had season-highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds against the Wildcats.

NU won this season’s earlier meeting with Kansas, 73-59, in Lincoln, Neb.
