Audubon to discuss ways to protect land

The Valentine’s Day meeting of the Jayhawk Audubon Society will feature “Loving the Land: Possible Land Protection Techniques for Douglas County, Kansas,” a presentation by Stacey Swearingen White, associate professor of urban planning at Kansas University.

White’s research has included the study of social conflict over land use, citizen participation in environmental planning, protection of open spaces, and stormwater management.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the second floor of the Lawrence Senior Center, Eighth and Vermont streets.

The free event is open to the public.
