Simmons

George and Arloene Simmons, Lecompton, celebrated their 60th anniversary Jan. 24 with a family dinner.

George Simmons and Arloene DeKat were married Jan. 24, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan.

George retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1978. Arloene is a homemaker.

The couple’s children are Johnny and Georgia Trammel, Lecompton; Robert and Rita Mock, Fulton, Mo., and the late Stanley Simmons.

They also have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lawellin

Gary and Shirley Lawellin, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day by renewing their vows at the Eudora Methodist Church.

Shirley Baecker and Gary Lawellin were married Feb. 14, 1952, in Olathe.

Shirley was born and raised in Eudora. Gary was from Oswego and moved to Eudora in 1951.

They met while attending Eudora High School.

They couple has four daughters, Debra Bost, Janet Erwin, Joyce Shontz and Laura McGraw. They also have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Miller

Norman and Peggy Jane Miller will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 at the American Legion in Lawrence.

Norman “Pod” Miller and Peggy Jane Keefer were married Feb. 3, 1952, at Danforth Chapel on Kansas University’s campus in Lawrence.

Norman graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, Lawrence. He served in the Korean War and is now retired from the floor covering business after 40 years. Peggy graduated from University High School, Lawrence. She is the bookkeeper at Pod’s Discount Carpet.

The couple have three children, Vickie Smith, Tonganoxie; Debbie Ritchie, Boxford, Mass.; and Darren Miller, Lawrence. They also have three grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Koleber

Richard and Yvoune Koleber, McLouth, will celebrate their 25th anniversary with a reception at 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Mass.

Richard and Yvoune Koleber were married Feb. 19, 1977, in Lawrence. They both attended Lawrence High School.

The couple have three children, Heather Smith, Camdenton, Mo.; and Candy Koleber and Terri Koleber, both of Lawrence. They also have two grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.
