James Emmanuel Tripkos

DeSoto Services for James Emmanuel Tripkos, 79, DeSoto, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at DeSoto Baptist Church. Burial will be in DeSoto Cemetery.

Mr. Tripkos died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of William Townsend and Mary Ann (Green) Tripkos. He was a 1940 graduate of DeSoto High School. He was a lifelong DeSoto resident.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific theater.

Mr. Tripkos worked as a carpenter at Ezell Construction Co., Lawrence, for 30 years. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of Linden Tripkos Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6654, DeSoto. He was a founding member of DeSoto Gun Club.

He married Maurine C. Foutes on Dec. 16, 1950, in Shelbyville, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Susan Marie Young, Overland Park; a brother, Raymond, DeSoto; two sisters, Eleanor White, Lawrence, and Jean Maness, DeSoto; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
