Victim dies after hit by several automobiles

A man has died after being hit by at least three cars on a dark Kansas City, Mo., road, police said.

The first vehicle struck the man about 7 p.m. Saturday before driving away, police said.

Two more cars that struck the unidentified man remained at the scene.

The man died about an hour later at a hospital.

Fort Riley soldier found fatally shot in street

A Fort Riley soldier died at a hospital several hours after he was shot on a Junction City street, police said.

Sgt. Maurice Simpson, 25, was found shot about 2 a.m. Saturday, police said.

He died several hours later at a Wichita hospital.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.

Simpson was a native of Philadelphia and had been at Fort Riley since May 2000.
