Edwin C. Veer

Services for Edwin C. Veer, 60, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m Monday at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Burial will in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Veer died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at a friend’s home.

He was born July 9, 1941, in Langdon, N.D., the son of Abe and Helen (Penner) Veer. He graduated from Langdon High School in 1959. He received a bachelor’s degree in missions and a minor in Bible exegesis from Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, Neb.

He was a veteran of the North Dakota National Guard, serving from 1959 to 1967.

Mr. Veer had lived in Lawrence from 1989 to 2000, when he moved to Seattle, where he was the director of retail ministries at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. He returned to Lawrence this year.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was a missionary for S.I.M.

He married Kathleen Busenitz on Oct. 12, 1962. She died Sept. 6, 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Conni Veer, Dallas; two sons, Jerry, Maryville, Mo., and Shawn, Rolla, Mo.; his mother, Dwight, Ill.; four brothers, Ted, Newton, Arlie, Kalamazoo, Mich., Alden, Langdon, N.D., and Ronnie, Bismarck, N.D.; two sisters, Rose Krahn, Oneida, Tenn., and Eileen Turner, Dwight, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Edwin C. Veer Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
