Perko leaving Patriots

? Today is Amy Perko’s last day as president of the Fayetteville Patriots of the National Basketball Developmental League.

Perko, who spent five years as an associate athletic director at Kansas University before taking the NBDL post in 2001, announced last month she would resign at the end of the year.

Perko said she wants to spend more time with her two young children, 3-year-old Anna and 2-year-old Kate.

“I definitely want to stay involved in sports because it’s a business that I know very well,” Perko said, “but for the time being I’m going to be a mom.”

Prior to joining KU’s staff, Perko worked at the NCAA for six years, four years as an NCAA enforcement representative and two years as a legislative assistant.

Her husband, Rick Perko, runs Immersion Media, a year-old Fayetteville company that produces products that give computer users interactive soccer and baseball instruction.
