Petrino pulling double duty

? Bob Petrino dedicates his mornings to Auburn and his afternoons to Louisville.

Petrino’s day job is as offensive coordinator for Auburn, which will face Penn State in the Capital One Bowl on Wednesday. After that game, Petrino officially will assume the duties of the coach of Louisville, a job he accepted last week.

Finding an even balance and developing an itinerary has not been easy.

“Just basically staying up all night on the phone and working, and then trying to make sure that we’re prepared for this game,” Petrino said.

Petrino, who was hired to replace John L. Smith, who left to become the coach at Michigan State, has already begun hiring a coaching staff and calling current Cardinals players and recruits.

Petrino knows where to go for a respite: the practice field.

“It’s been fun to be out there,” he said. “That’s probably the stress release that I need right now, is to be out on the field working with the players.”
