Orlando, Fla. ? Tommy Heinsohn has a fan in Orlando coach Doc Rivers — sort of.

Rivers is crediting the Hall of Famer and Boston TV analyst for the Magic’s latest win.

Drawing inspiration from a tape of Heinsohn criticizing the Magic earlier this month, Orlando snuffed out Boston’s comeback bid to hand the Celtics their third straight loss, 101-95 on Saturday night.

“Basically, he belittled every single player on our basketball team,” Rivers said. “To me, it’s just like when you have kids and someone picks on them — you take it personal.”

Tracy McGrady scored 25 points and Mike Miller had 20 for Orlando, which has won four of its last six. Andrew DeClercq had 13 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double with Orlando.

The Magic avoided a four-game losing streak to Boston, which included a 114-109 overtime loss on Dec. 9. It was that game when Heinsohn made his inflammatory comments.

Paul Pierce — shooting 9-for-28 but making all 16 of his free throws — had 34 points and nine rebounds to lead the Celtics. Shammond Williams scored 16 points.

Antoine Walker, suffering from a bug that affected about eight members of Boston’s traveling party during their 1-3 road trip, scored nine points before leaving in the third quarter.

“I’m happy with the way we competed, but there are no moral victories in the NBA,” said Pierce, whose free throws without a miss set a record for an Orlando opponent.

Pierce is shooting 31 percent (20-for-64) since suffering a scratched right cornea during fight with Cleveland’s Zydrunas Ilgauskas on Dec. 21.

Wizards 84, Hawks 76

Washington — Jerry Stackhouse scored 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as Washington broke a three-game losing streak. Stackhouse, who said he didn’t get the ball enough in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s loss to Detroit, started the final period with a three-pointer after the Hawks cut the Wizards’ lead to one. He added a pair of free throws and an emphatic one-handed driving dunk in a decisive 13-4 run that put Washington ahead by 10 with 5 minutes left.

Jason Terry had 22 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks, who played their second game under new coach Terry Stotts and lost their ninth straight road game.

Pacers 91, Hornets 84

Indianapolis — Ron Artest scored 23 points and reserve Erick Strickland scored 12 of his 20 in Indiana’s decisive run as the Pacers defeated New Orleans. Strickland, replacing an ineffective Jamaal Tinsley at point guard, sparked a 16-9 surge over the final 3:21 for the Central Division-leading Pacers (22-8). Baron Davis scored 22 points for New Orleans.

Pistons 106, T-Wolves 82

Auburn Hills, Mich. — Detroit’s Richard Hamilton scored 24 points, and Chauncey Billups added 21 against his former team. Mehmet Okur had a career-high 15 points and Ben Wallace added 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Pistons, who improved to 8-3 against the Western Conference.

Kevin Garnett led Minnesota with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Marc Jackson added 17 off the bench for the Timberwolves.

Nets 104, Bucks 96

Milwaukee — Kenyon Martin scored 24 points and Jason Kidd added 23 as New Jersey completed a home-and-home sweep of Milwaukee. Lucious Harris had 17, Richard Jefferson 16 and Jason Collins 11 as all five starters reached double figures for the Nets. Michael Redd was 9-for-10 and finished with 21 points to lead the Bucks. Sam Cassell added 20 points, Ray Allen 19 and Tim Thomas 12, but the trio combined for 15-of-44 shooting.

Spurs 109, Bulls 95

Chicago — Tony Parker put on a show for his family, matching his career-high of 32 points and notching his second double-double as San Antonio beat Chicago. Parker had 10 assists and five rebounds, and made five free throws in the last minute to stop a late Bulls rally. Parker’s father, Tony Sr., is from Chicago and played at Loyola. His brother T.J. plays for Northwestern.

Tim Duncan had 28 points and 15 rebounds for the Spurs, who won for the seventh time in their last nine games.

Jalen Rose led Chicago with 24, and Marcus Fizer had 12 rebounds and 11 points.

Mavs 107, Knicks 82

Dallas — Steve Nash and Nick Van Exel regained their shooting touch, helping the Mavericks return to their high-scoring ways. Nash had 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Van Exel scored 15, but more importantly helped the Mavericks regain their inside-outside attack. The result was their first 100-point effort in five games.

Latrell Sprewell had 16 points for New York, which had its most lopsided loss of the season.

Jazz 98, Sixers 69

Salt Lake City — Karl Malone scored 20 points and Matt Harpring added 20 more against his former team as Utah extended the 76ers’ road losing streak to five. The Jazz won for the fourth time in five games while hitting half their shots (36-for-72) in a game that was interrupted briefly when a rat was thrown onto the court. Allen Iverson led the Sixers with 13 points, matching his season low.

Lakers 112, Nuggets 93

Denver — Kobe Bryant scored 39, and Shaquille O’Neal added 22 as Los Angeles beat Denver. O’Neal, in his first game since getting married Thursday, added 13 rebounds as the Lakers won for just the second time in six games. Juwan Howard had 20 points and Rodney White 16 for Denver, which lost its ninth straight. The Nuggets (6-23) have lost 14 of 15.

Kings 119, Blazers 113

Sacramento, Calif. — Bonzi Wells scored a season-high 32 points and Rasheed Wallace had 30 as Portland won its seventh straight in overtime. Wells also had seven rebounds and six assists for the Blazers, who outscored Sacramento 17-11 in overtime.

Warriors 99, Clippers 92

Los Angeles — Antawn Jamison scored 28 points as Golden State snapped a four-game road losing streak. Gilbert Arenas had 23 points and seven assists, Jason Richardson had 20 points and Troy Murphy added 11 points and 14 points for the Warriors. Lamar Odom had 21 points and eight rebounds for Los Angeles in his first game this season.
