KU lands wide receiver

Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino received at least one jolly Christmas greeting Wednesday.

Moderick Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound wide receiver from Houston North Shore High, committed to KU, according to Jon Kirby of Mo Kan Football and rivals.com.

“I committed to Kansas yesterday,” Johnson told Kirby on Thursday. “My visit to Kansas was great, and I like the fact I have a chance to play early.”

Johnson had January visits set up with Arizona, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Louisiana-Monroe but will not take any more trips.

Johnson is the second receiver to join KU’s recruiting class. Alfred State’s Lyonel Anderson (6-4, 230) has signed a letter of intent and will enroll for the second semester.
