John Alex Reeves

He was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Pineville, Ark., the son of Herman Joseph and Mary “Molly” Frances (Rhoades) Reeves.

Mr. Reeves became a carpenter after attending Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Jordan, Minn. He was a carpenter on Bull Shoals Dam in Arkansas and a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He began working at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in 1952 and retired in 1985. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Eudora and helped build the church.

He married Yoland Monteen Whiteaker on April 29, 1944, in Melbourne, Ark. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Judy Samuels, Topeka, Melinda Nunez, Lawrence, and Janice Reeves, Eudora; a son, Rick, Olathe; a brother, Robert, Olive Branch, Miss.; a sister, Maggie Lee Wilson, Calico Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

A daughter, Phyllis Clary, died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
