Venturing Crew 2052, an all-female crew, had its first Adventure Outing on Nov. 23 at Monster Mountain Climbing Gym in Overland Park. For most of the young women it was the first time they had done any rock-type climbing.

Members of the crew are Anna Robertson, Caitlin Hinkle, Kelli Ambrose, Clarissa Wagner, Desiree Richmond, Manda Brixey, Christy Howard, Kym Scafe, Cooper Farr, Kathy Lewis, Nicole Reiske, Liz Turner and Alison King.

Adult members include Ralena McCurdy and Robin Robertson, advisers; Nancy Wilson, Pat Deaver, Gwen MacPherson, Rose Wagner, Kim Zinn and Amy Wellman, associate advisers; Cille King, charter organization representative; Tammy Barta, committee chairwoman; Cathy Howard, Kim Brixey, Marcia West, Karen Lewis, Michelle Mailand, Sony Turner and Bill Anderson, committee members; and Danny Keller, unit commissioner.

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month to plan business. It has several activities on Saturdays or weekends. Upcoming activities include camping at Bromelsick and a trip to Okpik-Northern Tier High Adventure Camp.

The Venturing Crew is open to girls in the eighth grade or older. Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Ralena McCurdy at (785) 542-3050.
