Santa Fe Trail splits with KC Piper

? Two Santa Fe Trail players recorded double-doubles and the Chargers shrugged off poor shooting to stifle Kansas City Piper, 38-27, in high school girls basketball on Friday.

“We were ready for a break, I think,” SFT coach Brenda Dahl said. “We had a long week.”

Melisa Ball and Alexis Pryor helped make sure Santa Fe Trail ended it with a victory. Ball had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Pryor had 10 points and 11 boards for the Chargers, who improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 for the week.

“I told them three games in a week had something to do with our poor shooting,” Dahl said. “I don’t even want to look at our percentage. They sat in a zone for most of the game, and we couldn’t shoot our way out of a paper bag. It was tough, but they hung in there.”

Jennie Deitrich added 10 points for SFT, which will be idle until Jan. 10.
