Two from KU elected psychological fellows

Two Kansas University administrators, including an associate dean, have been elected fellows of the American Psychological Assn.

The two are John Colombo, professor of psychology and associate dean of the graduate school on the Lawrence campus, and Kathryn Saunders, director of research at the Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies at the Parsons Research Center.

They were elected by association members for their contributions to the research, teaching and practice of psychology.

Colombo’s research includes studies of the development of attention in infants and young children.

Saunders’ areas of professional interest include human behavior and basic cognitive skills related to language and academics.

KU group plans visit to European sites

Chancellor Robert Hemenway will lead a group of Kansas University officials on a 12-day trip to Europe in late January and early February.

The group will attend fund-raising events and meet with KU alumni in London, Paris and Berlin. The trip will be funded by private donations.

Traveling with Hemenway will be Diana Carlin, dean of the Graduate School and international programs; Jeff Weinberg, assistant to the chancellor; Fred Williams, president of the KU Alumni Association; and Vicky Henley, development director for the KU Endowment Association.

Hemenway also will visit Stuttgart, Germany, where he will tour research institutes at the University of Stuttgart.

In Paris, Carlin will visit a new KU academic exchange partner.
