Big 12 men: Pasco propels Wildcats

? Pervis Pasco is starting to come along just fine for Kansas State.

After struggling at the beginning of the season, Pasco recorded his second double-double of the season Friday night to lead Kansas State past Lipscomb 88-64. Pasco finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

“I’ve had a slow start,” said Pasco, who has averaged 8.8 points and 6.1 rebounds. “Tonight, coach told me to do what I do. I was able to get comfortable with my shot and get a lot of points on rebounds.”

It was the third straight win for the Wildcats (5-4), who led by no less than 13 after Matt Jarboe hit a 3-pointer for Lipscomb (3-7) to make it 54-41 with 12:18 left in the game.

“We didn’t play our best basketball, but there are things we did to bother them,” Kansas State coach Jim Wooldridge said.

Jarrett Hart scored 14 points, Gilson DeJesus added 12 and Marques Hayden had 10 for Kansas State.

The Wildcats shot 52 percent from the field, while holding Lipscomb to 37 percent shooting. The Bisons went 6-of-18 (33 percent) from 3-point range.

“They were playing with a lot of energy and we were a little surprised,” DeJesus said.

So far this season, Kansas State has held its opponents to less than 50 percent shooting in all its games. Only two teams have shot better than 40 percent against the Wildcats.

“I felt their size and their length really hurt us,” Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson said. “We knew they’d be prepared for us. This was a game they couldn’t afford to lose.”

Charlie Jenney led Lipscomb with 15 points and Ryan Roller added 11. Kansas State also outrebounded Lipscomb 46-32.

“It wasn’t a pretty game on the offensive end,” Wooldridge said. “We looked ragged and didn’t have a lot of energy.”
