Paden

Glen and Lucile Paden, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at their home, 2901 Stratford Road.

Glen Paden and Lucile York were married Dec. 20, 1942, in Lawrence.

Glen was a professional engineer and worked in industrial construction. He was system power production manager for Kansas Power and Light. He was co-founder of Paden and Bartlett, now Bartlett and West Engineers Inc. He served as a United Methodist Volunteer in Mission for about 20 years repairing pumps and drilling water wells in Haiti.

Lucile was a homemaker. She returned to Kansas University for a doctorate and worked to promote quality child-care services and Menninger Foundation infant development research. She taught psychology and child development. She retired in 1988 as early childhood program specialist in special education for the Kansas Department of Education.

The couple’s children are Rabeth Meikle, Farmington, Conn.; Philip Paden, Medford, Ore.; David Paden, Lawrence; and Rebecca Lipnick, Farmington, N.M. They also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Reding

Gene and Cora Ann Reding, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a buffet reception Dec. 7 at the Lawrence Wesleyan Church with family and friends.

Gene Reding and Cora Ann Ross were married Dec. 18, 1952, in Overland Park. They were high school sweethearts.

Gene served in the U.S. Army as a light weapons instructor. He is a veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Hallmark Cards in various levels of production management with the decorative ribbon division for 38 years. He retired in 1991. Cora Ann was a homemaker.

The couple have four children, Terri Evinger, Eudora; Marilyn Kahn, Lawrence; William Reding, Lawrence; and Robert Reding, Lawrence. They also have seven grandchildren.
