Pacers’ forward O’Neal doubtful for tonight

Indianapolis — Pacers forward Jermaine O’Neal is doubtful for today’s game against the Chicago Bulls because of a knee injury.

An MRI test Thursday showed O’Neal sprained his left knee.

He was hurt in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Houston Rockets. He fell to the floor holding his knee, then was helped off the court.

He will be listed day-to-day after Friday’s game.

Artest fined $10,000 for shoving Mavs’ Bell

New York — Indiana forward Ron Artest was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Thursday for shoving Dallas’ Raja Bell and failing to leave the court quickly after being ejected.

Artest shoved Bell in the first quarter of the Pacers’ 118-97 loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday. Artest had just made a layup, but it didn’t count because a foul already had been called before he got the ball. As officials explained the whistle, Artest and Bell argued.

Money stolen from bus belonging to Raptors

Chicago — The Toronto Raptors lost more than a game — they lost $1,500 in cash.

The money apparently was stolen from the Raptors’ team bus during Wednesday night’s 96-83 defeat at the Chicago Bulls.

Four players and one coach discovered that their money was missing when they returned to the bus, which was parked at a United Center loading dock, Chicago police spokesman Carlos Herrera said Thursday.

Chicago Bulls official Sebrina Brewster would not comment on the incident.

No arrests had been made and an investigation was continuing, Herrera said.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank said the league’s security department also was investigating.

“I can confirm there was an incident and I can confirm there has been a complaint by the members of the Raptors that some money was stolen,” Frank said. “But any parts of our investigation we would keep internal.”
