Cardinals rally past Wellsville

? Eudora trailed, 10-8, after the first quarter, but outscored Wellsville, 18-12, in the second period and held on for a 47-43 girls basketball victory on Tuesday.

Mallorie Cleveland scored 16 points for the Cardinals (2-2).

Wendy Moore led Wellsville with 16 points, and Lacey Roecker added 12.

Eudora will play host to Prairie View on Thursday.

Carbondale — The Chargers fell behind in the first quarter and didn’t regain the lead until outscoring the Wildcats, 16-6, in the final period.

“This was our first test this year, and I give DeSoto a lot of credit,” SFT coach Brenda Dahl said. “I was just really proud with the way we battled back and got the job done.”

Melisa Ball led Santa Fe Trail (4-0) with 16 points. Lindsay Boss added 10 points, and Alexis Pryor had five points and 10 rebounds.

Katie Davis led DeSoto (2-1) with 13 points.

The Chargers play host to Kansas City Piper on Friday, and DeSoto will travel to Perry and face Perry-Lecompton.

Shawnee — Bonner Springs High put Mill Valley’s girls basketball team into a hole that was just too deep to get out of Tuesday at Mill Valley.

The Jaguars (0-4) were behind 17-4 after the first quarter and 27-10 at halftime.

“We need to be more aggressive toward the basket and we need to play start-to-finish intense,” Jaguars coach Betsy Meeks said. “We came up just short with that effort tonight.”

Mill Valley plays host to Tonganoxie on Friday.
