The Lawrence 299er Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 4 for its weekly game. The game was stratified and used a Mitchell movement. Playing North-South, Glenna Herd and Betty Spalsbury claimed first place. Don Brennaman and Russ La Force took second place. Emily Foster and Olivier Urruty placed first in B. Jo Abbott and Lynn Hui finished first in C. Competing East-West, Helen Huffman and Bob Huffman placed first in A and B. Artie Shaw and Bill Hamilton took second in A and B. Bob Anderson and Judy Bevan finished third in A and B. Ann Thompson and Julie Ward finished first in C. Don Brennaman directed the game.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 6 for its weekly game. The game attracted eight tables and used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the stratified game. First place winners, playing North-South, were Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough. Virginia Eddy and Shirley Vaughn placed second in A and first in B. Don Brennaman and Olivier Urruty took third in A and second in B. Artie Shaw and Bob Anderson finished second in B. Don Bush and Polly Choning finished first in C. Competing East-West, Jiambo Zhang and Harry Shaffer finished first in A. Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman took second place. Patt Radford and Yvonne Hedges placed third. Chuck Hedges and Betty Collier finished first in B and C. Mike Montgomery and Gary Joyce took second in B.

The University Bridge Club announces the winners of its Dec. 7 game, whose hosts were Paul and Carolyn Jordan and Carl and Isabelle Schaake.

The blue winners were Ed Stellmacher, first; Carl Schaake, second; Don Whitaker, third; Paul Jordan, fourth; and Karmie Galle, fifth.

The pink winners were Iva Koleber, first; Cathy Waller, second; Bette Lukens, third; Lois Liebert, fourth; and Hazel Stellmacher, fifth.

The Pilot Club had its Christmas dinner Dec. 9 at Vermont Trowers. The meal was served by the Fund-raising Division. The club donated $1,000 to the Alliance for Epilepsy Research.

The club’s next meeting will be Jan. 13 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. The guest speaker will be a member of the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club.
