Roy LaRue Shobe Sr.

Memorial services for Roy LaRue Shobe Sr., 95, Denver, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence.

Mr. Shobe died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Denver.

He was born March 27, 1907, in Waverly, the son of William and Wilmina (LaRue) Shobe. He had lived in Denver since 1936.

Mr. Shobe was a barber in Quenemo and Burlington before moving to Denver. He worked at Remington Arms Plant during World War II and was a self-employed carpenter from 1946 to 1957. He retired after working for several years at the National Jewish Hospital in Denver.

He married Edith Baldon in 1925. They later divorced. He married Louise Schanck in 1952. She died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Roy Jr., Lawrence; a sister, Lorena Armstrong, Burlington; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A great-granddaughter died earlier.

The family suggests memorials to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
