Kings’ Cleaves, Turkoglu return to squad practice

Pollard not expected back any time soon

? Hedo Turkoglu and Mateen Cleaves joined Peja Stojakovic at practice Thursday with the Sacramento Kings, whose injury woes could lessen significantly in the next week.

Turkoglu has been on the injured list since Nov. 30 because of a sprained wrist, while Cleaves hasn’t played all season because of foot injuries that have hobbled him since last season.

Stojakovic returned to the Kings’ lineup Tuesday night in Houston after missing nine games because of inflamed tissue in his right heel.

Cleaves and Turkoglu could be in uniform soon, though coach Rick Adelman isn’t making any guesses until the Kings have another full practice on Friday. Sacramento plays at Utah on Saturday night before a home game against New Orleans on Sunday.

Mike Bibby, who’s been out all season because of a broken foot, also could return as early as next week. He hasn’t been cleared to practice, though he is allowed to run on a treadmill and shoot.

Former Kansas standout Scot Pollard won’t return any time soon from the stress fracture in his lower back, however. The Kings lead the Pacific Division at 18-6, with 12 wins in their last 14 games.

Heat’s House ailing

Miami- Heat guard Eddie House will miss at least two weeks because of an injury to his right leg. The Miami shooting guard bruised his leg against Cleveland in November, then aggravated it last week against Portland. X-rays were negative. House is expected to begin running again after Christmas. In 17 games this season, House is averaging 6.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 16.1 minutes.
