Kansas City, Mo. ? The Kansas City Chiefs signed guard Darnell Alford to a one-year contract on Thursday and placed guard Victor Allotey on injured reserve.

Alford, a sixth-round draft choice selected by the Chiefs in 2000, appeared in three games over two seasons and was released after training camp this year.

Allotey spent the first 13 weeks of this season on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster but was inactive for all 13 games.
