He was born July 29, 1919, in Burlingame, the son of Hugh and Sarah (Burt) McFarlane.

Mr. McFarlane, a former Lawrence resident, had been a New England Life Insurance Co. agent for 50 years.

He married Fern Isaacs on April 18, 1941. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Robert E. Jr., Kearney, Mo., William T., St. Louis, and Theodore H., Overland Park; a daughter, Joye D. McFarlane, Wichita; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East Chapel, Wichita.
