Lawrence police are investigating a rash of auto burglaries on the cityâÂÂs west side.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Legends Trail Drive about 4:45 a.m. Wednesday after a woman awoke to her car alarm sounding.

Police searched the area and found a total of 11 cars had been broken into. Thieves broke windows on many of the cars, stealing stereo equipment, music CDs, cash and personal belongings.

One victim, the mother of a 5-month-old child, said both her and her husbandâÂÂs cars were hit. One item of particular value was taken. The mother said her camcorder was stolen and all she wants back is the tape of the birth of her only child.Ã
