Paul Elmer Kirkpatrick

He was born July 31, 1914, in Appleton, Mo., the son of Elmer and Grace Kirkpatrick. He spent his youth in Kansas, attended William Jewell College and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1935. He lived in Lawrence in the late 1940s and 1950s and moved to Vancouver in 1988.

Mr. Kirkpatrick opened LawrenceâÂÂs first sporting goods store, KirkpatrickâÂÂs Sports Shop, on Massachusetts Street. He later worked for the U.S. Post Office in Boulder, Colo., until he retired in 1979.

He married Emeline Tuttle in 1938. She died in 1993. He married Wilma Koch in 1994. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Ann Kirkpatrick Patry, Vancouver; a son, Roger, Longmont, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Starlene Kramer, Portland, Ore.; a stepson, Dan Koch, St. Helens, Ore.; five grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
