— Ottawa High's boys basketball team couldn't get its break going in a 57-48 loss to Bonner Springs on Tuesday.

The Cyclones, who put up 91 points in their opener against KC Piper, never managed more than 14 points in a quarter Tuesday.

"We never had even a 6-0 run of any kind," Ottawa coach David Grover said. "They spent a lot of time in 30-, 40-second possessions offensively. It's like the other night, we put up 45, 46 in each half. But we never got any rhythm offensively."

Braves center Jared Gillespe was able to hold Cyclones center Ross Thompson in check for most of the game, outscoring the 6-foot-8 senior, 23-17.

Lee Baldwin added 12 points for Ottawa, and Michael Cation scored 10.
