McAnderson tapped All-Stater

Lawrence High senior Brandon McAnderson was named first-team All-State by the Topeka Capital-Journal, the schoolâÂÂs first All-State selection since 1995.

He was the 56th all-state selection in the schoolâÂÂs history.

McAnderson, a running back and linebacker, was the driving force for the Lions (8-3) this year. He rushed for 1,789 yards on 236 carries this season, with 25 touchdowns, all just short of Michael CoseyâÂÂs school records of 1,854 yards and 26 touchdowns on 238 carries set in 1991. McAnderson became just the second Lion to rush for more than 3,000 yards in a career, with 3,052.

Cosey had 3,281 yards.

Eudora senior running back Andrew Pyle, who rushed for more than 2,000 yards for the second straight season, was a second-team selection for the second straight year.
