Area Boys: Belton trips Baldwin

? The top-seeded Baldwin High boys basketball team scored just six points in the first quarter and couldnâÂÂt recover, losing 73-54 to Belton, Mo., on Monday in the Trailblazer Invitational.

Belton led 21-6 after the first period and 39-20 at halftime before cruising to victory. Four Belton players scored in double figures, led by Lee Dixon with 14 points.

Andy Hannon led Baldwin with 24 points, and Joe Gipp added 14. No other Bulldog scored more than five points.

Baldwin will play Kansas City Turner, a 68-49 loser to Gardner-Edgerton, at 3:30 p.m. today in the consolation bracket.

KC Ward 65, Eudora 49

Eudora trailed 15-6 after one period and 37-14 at halftime and couldnâÂÂt come back.

Andrew Bell led the Cardinals with 15 points. Chris Gabriel added 10 points and Tyler Cleveland scored nine. They were the only three with field goals in the first quarter.

Eudora will play Spring Hill, a 75-32 loser to Blue Valley West, at 6:45 p.m. today in the consolation bracket.
