The 10th lesson on EasyBridge was Nov. 20 with the subject “Defense against No Trump.”

The game used the Swiss team format and was directed by Eldon Herd.

The winning team members were Esther Miller, Bernice Daniels, Mary Kanous and Earl Nehring. Second place went to the team of Betty Olson, Gwen Whitebread, Bill Wood and Dick Miller.

The Lawrence Music Club will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Manor, 1429 Kasold Drive. A short business meeting will be in the chapel. The Lawrence Music Club Ensemble, under the direction of Beth Harrison, will present a program.

Refreshments will be served by Lynne Bodle, Bob Friauf, Elaine de San Miguel and Shirley Wilcox.

Members of the Lawrence Music Club Ensemble also will present the program at the Winter Tea given by the Presbyterian Women today at the First Presbyterian Church.

The Lawrence Barn Dance Assn. will have a family barn dance at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ecumenical Christian Ministries, 1204 Oread Ave.

The caller will be Jill Allen. Live music will be provided by Patrick Kingsbury, Pam Sherrod and Byron Wiley.

No partner is necessary, but each child should bring an adult. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children under 16.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 29 for its weekly game and quarterly club championship. The 5 1/2-table game was stratified, used the Howell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman. Harriet Olson and Bob Anderson claimed first place in A, B and C. Bebe Huxtable and Meredith Docking finished second in A and B. Donna Johnson and Ann Thompson placed third in A. Jerry Sloan and Don Brennaman placed fourth. Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks took fifth in A, third in B and second in C.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday for its weekly game. Nine tables competed in a stratified game using the Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. North-South winners in A, B and C were Gladys Turner and Max Turner. Shirley Vaughn and Sally Taylor finished second in A and B. John Hickey and Jim Kelley placed third. Yvonne Hedges and Shirley Reese finished fourth in A and third in B. Bob Anderson and Judy Bevan placed fifth in A, fourth in B and second in C. Playing East-West, Donna Johnson and Paul Heitzman claimed first in A, while Jerry Sloan and Eldon Herd placed second. Steve Goodman and Elizabeth Nice finished third. Dave Rhea and Christie Thomas came in fourth. Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld placed fifth in A and first in B and C.

The GFWC Lawrence Classics will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Paula Johnson’s home in Baldwin. Dr. Trilla Lyeria will have a “Name That Tune” contest. She also will lead the club in singing Christmas carols. The club will have a gift exchange.
