Perme to run track at Emporia State

Free State High senior Kelley Perme will sign a letter of intent today to run track at Emporia State University.

Perme was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Class 6A state track meet last spring and will probably continue to run hurdles in college, though FSHS track coach Steve Heffernan said she could also excel in the heptathlon.

“She doesn’t have any bad events,” Heffernan said. “She’s a very good long jumper. That’s an area she started ot show lots of promise in last year. She also started to throw the javelin pretty well.”

Perme is the third FSHS athlete to sign a letter of intent this school year.

Womack honored

Lawrence High senior Brandon Womack was inadvertently not included on the All-Sunflower League honorable mention list in Tuesday’s Journal-World. Womack was a three-year letterman and started at safety for the Lions this season.
