Jayhawk football snags verbal commitment

Kansas University’s football team has picked up a verbal commitment from Bruce Ringwood, a linebacker from Blue Springs (Mo.) High.

Ringwood, 6-0, 205, on Tuesday was awarded the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the best lineman in the Kansas City area.

“It came down to Illinois and Kansas,” Ringwood told Jon Kirby of MoKan Football and Rivals.com. “Kansas did a good job recruiting me. Coach (Dave) Doeren told me I had a full ride to Kansas and that’s what I decided to do. I think the program will get turned around. Coach (Mark) Mangino came from Oklahoma, one of the best programs around. The way he comes off and talks I feel he knows what he is doing.”

Ringwood was an all-state and all-district selection as a junior. He is expected to make all of the postseason teams when they are announced this year. Ringwood will take his official visit to Lawrence this weekend. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals100.com and the second best linebacker in the state.
