Illinois easily solves North Carolina freshmen
CHAMPAIGN, ILL. ? Brian Cook scored 22 points and Sean Harrington had a career-high 20 as the Illinois seniors handed North Carolina’s freshman class its first loss, 92-65 on Tuesday.
Harrington was 7-of-9 from the field, including 6-of-8 from the 3-point line, giving the Illini (4-0) the boost they needed. Cook was 8-of-12 from the field and had eight rebounds and five assists.
Freshman Sean May led North Carolina (5-1) with 21 points.

Tucson, Ariz. – Jason Gardner made four of six 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Arizona.
Gardner, one of three senior starters and a preseason all-American, has made 11 of 17 3s in the first three games for the Wildcats (3-0).
Josh Fisher scored 16 points for the Billikens (1-3).

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Erwin Dudley had 18 points, Kenny Walker added 17 and Mo Williams had 13 points and seven assists for the No. 3 Crimson Tide (5-0).

Greensboro, N.C. – Freshman J.J. Redick scored 20 points for the second straight game to lead the Blue Devils in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Brent Darby, with a 8.7 career scoring average, led the Buckeyes with a career-high 35 points.

Pittsburgh – Julius Page scored 16 points to lead the Panthers (4-0), who led by as many as 39 points in the first half.
Chakowby Hicks scored 10 points for Norfolk State (1-2).

Charleston, W.Va. – Freshman Joe Herber hit the go-ahead basket with 50 seconds left as West Virginia overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half to beat a ranked opponent for the first time in six tries.

Indianapolis – Tom Coverdale matched his career high with 30 points and Indiana won in overtime.
Steve Blake, who led the Terrapins (4-1) with 22 points, hit a potential game-winning midcourt heave, but it was waved off as too late.

Storrs, Conn. – Ben Gordon had career highs with 31 points and 10 assists, and Emeka Okafor had his fourth-straight double-double for the Huskies.
Chris Assel had 15 points for Sacred Heart (0-4).

Cincinnati – Lionel Chalmers scored 24 points and David West added 18 Tuesday for the Musketeers (3-1).
No. 18 Kentucky 84, High Point 64
Lexington, Ky. Keith Bogans scored 21 points and Gerald Fitch added 18 points and six assists to lead the Wildcats in their home opener. The Wildcats (3-1) shot 63 percent (32-of-51) and scored 24 points off 20 turnovers. Dustin VanWeerdhuizen scored 18 points to lead High Point (2-2).

Fort Worth, Texas – Andre Emmett had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Texas Tech (4-0) used early spurts in both halves to beat TCU.
Georgia 71, Colorado 70
Boulder, Colo. – Jonas Hayes hit a desperation 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left, lifting Georgia past Colorado.
David Harrison had 15 points and 18 rebounds for the Buffaloes (2-2).
