Big 12 Women: Bluejays trip Huskers in Nebraska showdown

? Laura Spanheimer scored 14 points Sunday as Creighton beat Nebraska 55-40. Spanheimer finished with four three-point field goals as the Bluejays (2-1) beat their former coach.

Connie Yori, a former Creighton player and coach for the last 10 years, left the Omaha school last summer for the coaching job in Lincoln.

Depth, pressure and up-tempo play were three things Yori used to take Creighton to the NCAA Tournament last year. With a Nebraska roster featuring only six scholarship players, Yori could only watch her former team play the way she would like the Cornhuskers to perform.

Nebraska didn’t hit its first field goal until 10:53 left in the first half.

Creighton’s defense forced 15 Nebraska turnovers in the first half and held the Huskers (2-1) to 26 percent shooting.

Katie Morse led the Cornhuskers with 11 points.
