From the Lawrence Daily World of Dec. 1, 1902: “Theoretically, socialism is right. For this reason, every socialist one meets says that nearly everyone believes in socialism but the fatal weakness in the system is that it kills individual effort. The country is great, not because of any united effort but because so many individual men working together have made it so. Each has worked hard on his own to succeed and socialism has nothing to do with that. : The Wichita Eagle says that as the human race advances, kissing will be cut out. There is no sign yet, however, of even lethargy in the use of osculatory demonstrations.”
