Mild weather expected this week

If you like consistency in your weather, you’re in for a treat  you can expect highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s this week.

“It’s going to be kind of a broken record story for the next couple of days,” Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist, said Monday morning.

Temperatures should be 83 by noon and 89 by 5 p.m. Overnight, more cool weather is expected, with the low of 63.

Thunderstorms will develop over Nebraska and western Kansas Monday, with the possibility they could move toward the Lawrence area on Tuesday and Wednesday. But the likelihood of rain is 10 percent or less, Makens said.

“If we do see any rain it will be light showers for the next couple of afternoons,” he said.

Tuesday’s high will be 90, with a light chance of showers Tuesday afternoon.

Lawrence had .11 of an inch over the weekend, making the total rainfall for the year about six inches below normal, he said.
