He was born May 21, 1940, in Osborne County, the son of Henry and Julia (Elliott) Hackerott. He grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1958.

Mr. Hackerott worked as a typesetter at the Garden City Telegram and Emporia Gazette. He also worked as a typesetter and book binder at Allen Press in Lawrence.

Survivors include a son, Bradley Neil, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Cynthia Lynne Hackerott, Chicago; a brother, Marion Leroy, San Angelo, Tex.; and a grandson.
