Howard T. Lindley

He was born Dec. 13, 1912, in Lawrence, the son of George and Maud (Reed) Lindley.

Mr. Lindley was in the dry cleaning business in Lawrence for 40 years and during that time spent 14 years as civil defense director of Douglas County. He dissolved his business in 1968 and worked at several jobs until he retired in 1974. He spent 15 years in Hemet, Calif., and six years in Las Vegas before returning to Lawrence.

He married Mildred Messenheimer on July 31, 1938. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Donald, Las Vegas; a daughter, Jane Kleist, Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Maxine States, Carrollton, Tex.; two brothers, Reed, Lincoln, Neb., and Glenn, Kerrville, Tex.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
