This week’s question

Asked at Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center

Do you think roping cows and riding bulls in a rodeo is cruel?

Tressa Walker, 5 years old, Tonganoxie
“No, it’s not mean because it’s nice when they ask them if they want to be in (the rodeo).”

Kristin Haskell, 10 years old, Perry Middle School
“That’s not mean because they don’t hurt them.”

Caleb Gesner, 11 years old, Sacred Heart School, Shawnee
“Yeah, because I don’t think they like to be tied up … and ridden and sometimes jabbed with sharp sticks.”

Tashia Owen, 10 years old, Woodlawn School
“Kind of, because it’s kind of like making a bulldog fight another bulldog. It’s using animals.”

Danielle Rountree, 10 years old, Woodlawn School
“I think it’s mean because they are hitting the bulls and just making them madder. I think it’s wrong.”

Brian Houle,13 years old, South Junior High School
“Yeah, probably, because I’d think it would choke them.”

Deanna Durkes, 11 years old, Jefferson County North in Winchester
“Yeah, because those calves get hurt. It’s sad to see them get roped.”
