Don’t toss the clothes; trends often return

The fall shopping season is just around the corner, which means now is the time to make a little room in the closet.

In the August issue of Bazaar, the magazine’s editors advise what items to hold on to for another season and which should go into storage. They say store the items that are currently out of style instead of throwing them out because in the world of fashion “what goes around comes around.”

The editors’ keepers are anything gold, especially gold pendants on leather cords; stacked heel boots; slouchy suede bag; fur; sophisticated, ladylike blouses; and micromini skirts.

The storage pile should include turquoise jewelry; cowboy boots; distressed leather bag; cape; frilly peasant tops; and anything voluminous, such as a long, full skirt.

Spa club helps ease runners’ feet

There is probably no one who is harder on her feet than a runner but that doesn’t mean a runner has to have hard feet plagued by blisters and calluses.

Estee Lauder Spas is launching its Spa Marathon Club, offering a frequent pedicure and massage plan. For every five pedicures the marathon member gets an upgraded heel-to-toe or hot lava rock pedicure free; and for every five tension-relieving body massages, the member gets an upgraded hot lava rock massage for free.

The plan is open to runners and non-runners but the big reward at the end a free two-hour rubdown is being offered only to participants in the New York, Marine Corps or Chicago marathons.

Estee Lauder Spas are located in New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Illinois.

Feminine look includes florals, ruffles

There is still time left to be frilly and flirty before the more serious fall fashions take over.

The best way to capture the feminine look, according to Mavi Jeans, is to wear florals or floral embellishments, lightweight fabrics, puffed sleeves, gathers and tucks. Girlie jeans are low rise with an A-line leg, which can be paired with soft, billowy blouses, and denim skirts have ruffles or flares.

Fitted jackets are the perfect feminine topper to any of these looks because they accentuate feminine curves and evoke an innocent look, says the manufacturer.
