The Kansas Department of Human Resources has predicted job growth rates in the Northeast Kansas region from 1998 to 2008.

The northeast region of Kansas includes the following counties: Atchison, Brown, Clay, Doniphan, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee, Wabaunsee and Washington.

The KDHR’s Occupational Outlook contains the following predictions.

Fastest-growing occupations

Systems analysts, 70.5 percent

Computer support specialist, 64.5 percent

Social/human service assistant, 50 percent

Telemarketers, 49.5 percent

Social workers, 39 percent

Occupations adding the most jobs

Cashiers, 1,750 jobs

Retail assistants, 1,440 jobs

Registered nurses, 1,300 jobs

General manager/top executives, 1,270 jobs

Office clerks, 990 jobs
