Benjamin takes title

Jason Benjamin won the Lawrence Bass Club tournament last Saturday at Perry Lake. Tyler Crotts finished second and Darin Hess third. Benjamin also caught the biggest bass.

LaCygne champions

John Laddusaw and Nate Cunningham won the Lawrence Fishing and Outdoor Club's tournament at LaCygne Lake. Bob Saathoff and Dan Lynch were second while Brian Kingsley and Troy White were third.

Kingsley far back

Cecil Kingsley of Lawrence caught three bass that weighed three pounds, 14 ounces and finished 143rd at the FLW tournament April 17-20 at Beaver Lake in Oklahoma.

Massive mushrooms

Willie Brooks and David Flotz, both students at Perry Middle School, went mushroom hunting not too long ago and found a trove of beef steak mushrooms and a scattering of morels. One of the beef steaks weighed nine pounds. It measured 28 inches around and 14 inches tall.
