Old home town – 100 years ago today

On April 27, 1902, the Lawrence Journal told of 40 students at Baker University who were suspended for breaking into the gymnasium during a basketball game between girls’ teams.
A Lawrence Journal’s headline read, “Dr. Frank Strong Chosen Chancellor of Kansas University.” The Journal told of Strong, who had been chancellor at Oregon University and noted that he would start his new duties atop the hill Aug. 1 and would be paid $4,500. It was noted that he would provide his own housing.
