Lucile M. Niedenthal

RUSSELL ? Services for Lucile M. Niedenthal, 84, Russell, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell.

Mrs. Niedenthal died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Lakeview Village nursing center, Lenexa.

She was born July 2, 1917, in Reno County near Langdon, the daughter of Joe and Dora (Plush) Cole. She lived her early life in Reno County and received her teaching degree at McPherson College.

Mrs. Niedenthal taught in elementary and junior high schools for many years. She also served as Russell County superintendent of schools.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both in Russell.

She married Emil R. Niedenthal on May 23, 1943, in Russell. He died March 22, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Galen Niedenthal, Russell, and Mike Niedenthal, Lawrence; two daughters, Linda Johnson, Overland Park, and Ada Niedenthal, Prairie Village; a sister, Helen Kraus, Pretty Prairie; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Pohlman’s Mortuary, Russell, and from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.
