Overland Park ? Free State won five of six single matches en route to a 7-2 rout of Shawnee Mission West in a high school boys tennis dual on Thursday.

Alan Martinez, Ben Cropp, Matt Schwabauer, Eyad Safadi and Rishi Surana claimed singles victories for the Firebirds, who improved to 6-1-1 in duals this season.

Cropp-Schwabauer and Martinez-Surana also claimed doubles victories.

“We played well as a team,” FSHS coach Jon Renberger said, “and our overall confidence is growing with each event. We need to continue playing assertively as we prepare for league and regionals.”
