Speedway will be smokin' for barbecue cookoff
Kansas City, Kan. Â Kansas Speedway and Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue and Catering are teaming for one of the biggest barbecue cookoffs the city known for barbecue has seen.
The second annual Kansas Speedway/Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue Cookoff is April 26-27 at the Kansas Speedway infield. The cookoff is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and boasts about $40,000 in prize money.
Cash prizes will be awarded through 10th place in four categories: ribs, chicken, pork and brisket.

Tickets to attend the cookoff are $10 for April 26 and $5 for April 27. Friday tickets include a $2 coupon good for food concessions at the track.
A fireworks spectacular will be presented April 26.

A new show airs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday each week on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 and repeats at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The show is also broadcast at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. Sunday and 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Mr & Mrs T Rich & Spicy Bloody Mary Mix
46-ounce can tomato juice
4 tablespoons lime juice
3 tablespoons juice from canned, sliced jalapeÃ±os
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher. Store covered in the refrigerator.
Directions for mixing a drink, from the original mix: "Add 3 parts Mr and Mrs T Rich & Spicy Bloody Mary Mix to 1 part vodka, gin, rum or tequila, over ice. Mr & Mrs T Rich & Spicy Bloody Mary Mix is also delicious by itself. Simply pour over ice and serve."
Makes 52 ounces.
